About the Catana 62

The Catana 62 is an Ultimate Series sailing catamaran developed from the 59, retaining that model’s 9.49-metre beam while extending the hulls. Reverse bows, carbon-sandwich construction and selective carbon-aramid reinforcement serve its performance-cruising role without making it an all-carbon yacht. The wide platform provides substantial social space, but it also makes berth dimensions an important ownership consideration.

The cockpit and saloon meet on one level, making movement straightforward between outdoor dining and sheltered seating. A modular lounge can support meals and conversation or become a daybed during relaxed passages. Brochure configurations included U-shaped or island galleys and three, four or five cabins; the clearest plans showed three-cabin owner and four-cabin arrangements, plus separate skipper quarters.

Twin aft steering stations position the helms near the side decks, allowing the skipper to use the clearer sightline when docking. Curved lifting daggerboards reduce draft when raised and provide lateral resistance when lowered for better windward sailing. Despite the brochure’s foil terminology, they are not intended to lift the catamaran clear of the water, while twin engines assist close-quarters manoeuvring.

Compared with the Catana 53, whose beam is 8.65 metres, the 62 is both longer and wider at 9.49 metres; its beam instead matches the Catana 59. The larger platform allocates more room to communal living but increases marina and handling demands. Raised daggerboards help when approaching shallower anchorages, while level social areas and twin-helm control suit extended cruising with a larger party.
