About the Aquila 28 Molokai
The Aquila 28 Molokai is the current open centre-console fishing power catamaran in Aquila’s Molokai line, distinct from the enclosed Cuddy version. Its twin-hull layout and broad 2.96-metre beam create a walkaround deck intended for offshore angling, diving and family day use, while the central console keeps movement open on both sides.
This is an open day boat rather than an overnight cruiser: the manufacturer specifies no cabins, and the optional toilet sits inside the console rather than in a private suite. Split bow seating, fold-out cockpit seats and a removable bow table can shift the emphasis from fishing to social use, while under-deck fish boxes, tackle storage, a livewell, sink and cutting surface support practical angling.
At the helm, twin seats, a fixed windshield, digital engine gauges and clear access around the console accommodate the skipper and a companion without interrupting the side decks. A central transom walkthrough assists with boarding, diving and handling a catch. Standard propulsion is a pair of 150 hp Mercury outboards, with twin 225 hp engines optional; bimini and hardtop arrangements should be checked against each boat’s build specification.
Buyers choosing between this model and the 28 Molokai Cuddy should focus first on weather protection: the Cuddy adds an enclosed forward pilothouse and cuddy, whereas the open boat preserves the centre-console deck flow. Neither should be treated as a conventional cabin cruiser. CatamaranWorld model guides can frame that decision, but actual listings are essential for confirming the fitted roof, toilet, electronics and fishing equipment on an individual boat.
