About the Windelo 55 Sport

The Windelo 55 Sport is the larger fast-cruising expression of the range, shaped by designers Barreau and Neuman and built at Canet-en-Roussillon. According to information presented by CatamaranWorld, the identity comes from light, purposeful construction: both this model and the Windelo 51 Sport use basalt/PET foam hulls, with carbon concentrated in selected structural bulkheads instead of across the complete hull shells.

Accommodation choices are clearly defined in the configurator. The three-cabin owner arrangement dedicates a hull to a private suite with a desk, placing the guest cabins opposite; the four-cabin alternative divides cabins evenly between the hulls. Both provide shower and toilet facilities on each side. A forward cabin can serve as an office, bunk room or workshop, while L-shaped and U-shaped galley plans merit comparison.

Sailing hardware distinguishes the Sport package: a carbon mast one metre taller, Kevlar rigging, a carbon crossbeam and extended bowsprit, 3D membrane sails, traditional jib sheets, plus carbon daggerboards and rudders. Draft changes with daggerboard position. The protected forward cockpit and paired steering wheels keep sail handling central. The published reference installation is electric-hybrid, but buyers should verify motors, batteries and any range-extending equipment on the boat under consideration.

The Windelo 51 Sport is derived from the base 50, just as the Windelo 55 Sport develops the base 54. The larger Sport suits buyers seeking more accommodation while retaining the same performance-led equipment philosophy. Against the base model, weigh the taller rig and more involved foil handling against cruising simplicity, then compare berth needs, payload, propulsion configuration, maintenance access and the final quotation.
