About the Windelo 54
The Windelo 54 is a Barreau and Neuman cruising catamaran built in Canet-en-Roussillon, France, with basalt-fibre and foam-sandwich construction rather than an all-carbon structure. It is a current photographed model, though equipment may vary by build year. Adventure and Yachting identify equipment and finish versions; the 55 Sport is a separately numbered derivative. CatamaranWorld readers should therefore treat edition and generation details as important when reading listings.
Accommodation plans offer either an L-shaped or U-shaped galley and as many as four main cabins, with skipper accommodation available as an option. These drawings represent configuration choices, not proof that every boat was delivered that way. Buyers can assess whether spare cabins suit guests, work or storage, but should verify the partitioning, heads and galley arrangement aboard the specific hull.
Deck operation centres on the protected forward cockpit, where the two steering wheels sit together; this is neither an aft twin-helm layout nor a flybridge. The cruising sail arrangement uses a self-tacking headsail, while the current propulsion reference specifies twin 20 kW electric shaft motors supported by a diesel generator. Solar generation and hydrogeneration can contribute energy, but they should not be read as promises of unlimited range.
Against the Windelo 50, the 54 provides a longer platform but can still be configured with the same maximum cabin count, so buyers should compare usable room rather than cabin numbers alone. The 55 Sport is a different choice, with a taller carbon mast, lighter performance-focused components and conventional jib sheets that demand more trimming. Use model guides to define those differences, then use actual listings to confirm layout, edition, installed inventory and refit history.
