Lagoon’s new Signature owner-exchange program offers another way to explore cruising destinations. Here is what the announcement confirms and what to ask next.

An owner exchange aimed at new destinations

Lagoon announced its Swap Program on October 1, 2026, describing an exchange through which Lagoon Signature owners can use another owner’s catamaran in a different cruising destination. The builder says the program is available through Club Lagoon and also offers participants the chance to experience a different Signature model.

The announcement mentions the Mediterranean, Caribbean and French Polynesia as examples of the cruising possibilities. It does not establish that a particular boat, destination or week is available. Owners should confirm an actual match through the program before making travel arrangements.

Why the idea matters to an owner

Our view: an exchange could make a distant cruising area more practical for someone who wants to keep their own yacht based close to home. The appeal is easy to understand. A destination that looks straightforward on a map can involve a substantial delivery commitment if the owner wants to arrive on their own boat.

The interesting comparison is therefore between complete trips. What would it take to position your yacht, arrange a conventional charter or use an owner exchange? Compare the time required, the available dates and the amount of preparation involved. The announcement alone is not enough to calculate a saving.

The details to settle before a swap

Start with eligibility and the specific yacht on offer. Then ask who arranges the handover, who operates the boat, which cruising area is agreed and who handles a fault away from the home berth. Make sure both sides understand what is included and what would be paid separately.

Insurance, damage responsibility, deposits and cancellation arrangements also need clear written answers. These are questions for the program team, not terms we are attributing to Lagoon’s announcement. An attractive destination is only part of the decision; an owner needs to understand how the exchange will work day to day.

A reason to ask, rather than a reason to assume

For a Signature owner curious about a different cruising ground, the announcement creates a useful conversation with Lagoon. Ask for current program information and a concrete example suited to your dates before treating the exchange as part of your ownership plans.

For a buyer, keep the yacht purchase and the exchange opportunity as separate decisions until eligibility and availability are confirmed. Choose a boat that works for the way you will normally use it. A future swap can then be an additional possibility, rather than the assumption holding the purchase together.
