A busy October weekend for catamaran buyers

The 2026 Annapolis Sailboat Show runs October 15–18 on the city’s downtown waterfront. For catamaran shoppers, two manufacturer announcements make the trip particularly interesting: Aquila is bringing its sailing range to the show, while Lagoon has listed four cruising models for visitors to compare.

This is a preview of announced displays, rather than a review of boats we have sailed. Confirm individual appointments and the final dock plan before travelling. The City of Annapolis has also flagged parking restrictions around show setup and removal, so leave room in the day for getting to the waterfront.

Aquila brings the 45 Sail and 50 Sail

Aquila says Annapolis will host the Americas debut of its 45 Sail alongside the 50 Sail. The builder lists Dock B as its display location and offers advance viewing reservations. For buyers who have associated Aquila with power catamarans, this is an opportunity to examine its approach to a sailing boat in person.

On board, follow the route from the helm to the cockpit and then to the foredeck. Can the people who will actually sail the boat communicate easily? Where would someone stand while handling a line? A crowded show is a useful setting for judging circulation, even though it cannot tell you how a boat behaves at sea.

Four Lagoon models to compare

Lagoon’s published Annapolis lineup includes the Lagoon 38, Lagoon 43, Lagoon 51 Iconic and Lagoon 55. That gives visitors a broad spread of cruising platforms to inspect during one visit, rather than relying on separate photographs and specification sheets.

Keep the comparison personal. Try the galley with two people in it, check where wet clothing would go and look at the steps between the dock and the living spaces. Ask which cabin arrangement and equipment package you are standing in. A display boat’s inventory may differ considerably from a base specification or a used example you find for sale.

Leave with answers you can use

Bring the same short question list to each appointment: what equipment is included, what changes with the layout, what delivery timing is available and what support would look like near your home port. Ask for a dated specification and a written quote for the configuration you want. That makes the follow-up conversation much more productive.

Photograph the model name before taking interior pictures so your notes stay attached to the right boat. Before leaving the show, choose the two boats that deserve another visit and write down what remains unanswered. The best result from Annapolis is a smaller, better understood shortlist.
