What is a great two-week Bahamas route for a first catamaran trip?

We are comfortable handling a catamaran but new to the Exumas. We would like protected anchorages, good snorkeling, a few places to reprovision and enough flexibility for weather days. Where would you start and finish, and which stops deserve more than one night?

For a first trip I would keep it simple: begin around Nassau, cross to Highbourne Cay when the weather window is comfortable, then work south through Warderick Wells and Staniel Cay. Turn around before the itinerary becomes a delivery schedule. Cambridge Cay deserves two nights if conditions are settled.

Build at least two weather days into the plan and avoid promising yourself a specific farthest-south point. The Exumas reward short moves. Ask your charter base about current fuel, water and grocery options because they change, and download charts and weather before leaving reliable service.
