Owner’s version or four-cabin layout for long-term cruising?

Elena P. · SampleSep 10, 2026

We are a couple planning to live aboard for most of the year, with friends and family visiting a few times each season. The owner’s hull looks wonderful, but the extra cabin could improve resale and flexibility. Which layout did you choose, and would you choose it again?

For a couple living aboard, the owner’s version was absolutely the right call. The storage, larger bathroom and private workspace improve everyday life far more than a fourth cabin we might use twice a year. We still host guests comfortably in the other hull.

We chose four cabins because our teenagers and friends join us often. It works, but one cabin has effectively become storage and an office. Be honest about how the boat will be used 90% of the time rather than optimizing for the biggest possible guest week.
